Hi Qlaw – we seem to have been dealing with pre-contract-enquiries on our sale for forever. We are selling, and the buyer keeps raising stuff in bits and bobs. Is there anything we can do to speed them up? Can we refuse to answer their questions? Thanks, Bryan. PS – love your website! So much great information about the conveyancing process. Just wish we had found you earlier!

Thanks for reaching out Bryan. So, yes, you can refuse to answer your buyer’s enquiries (if there is good reason to refuse). BUT (big but!) stay focused on your primary aim here (presumably) – to sell your house! Pre-contract-enquiries do sometimes come in in ‘bits and bobs’ as you put it. Annoying, and difficult for the seller (and their solicitor) to keep track of sometimes. So, hang in there is probably the watch word. Be guided by your conveyancer or conveyancing solicitor, and perhaps involve your estate agent too to see if they can establish if your buyer is getting cold feet. We’re feeling your pain Bryan – the enquiries stage of any conveyance can be so frustrating. Best of luck, and thank you again for reaching out to QLAW….
