So you want to make a Lasting Power of Attorney, but don’t want to trouble family or friends with the very considerable burden that that would bestow of them should you loose capacity? As solicitors, we can accept the LPA appointment, and rather like acting as professional executors, should the LPA ever be needed, you can reast easy knowing that you affairs are in the hands of professionals, and you have not burdened your loved ones.
How much do Attorney Services cost?
Any fees charged for acting as your attorney would only be payable in the event of you losing capacity, and therefore work needing to be done. This would normally be on a ‘time basis’ – ie only work done is charged for, with any time spent being recorded to the minute.
Remember that you have the peace of mind that your solicitor is regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority, and answerable to the Legal Ombudsman. Also, as an attorney they are accountable to the Office of the Public Guardian too – as are all attorneys.
