My father has Parkinson’s Disease and Dementia with Lewy Bodies. We have confirmation from his social worker that he has capacity to appoint an attorney but can find no one that will act as the certificate provider.  He is 94 so his friends all have similar issues. The social worker and home manager will not act.  His GP of 24 years can no longer act as he is now registered with the practice for the nursing home he has been put into.  The new GP will not act as he does not know my father. We created a LPA for dad’s neurologist to sign however we will not be able to see her now for another 12 months.

As the social worker confirmed capacity, the local authority will no longer arrange payment of dad’s care fees, the family does not have sufficient finances to pay them on his behalf so we need to get the LPA sorted asap.
